Pali
Ke Kua is a small resort that sits near the edge of the cliff
on the north shore of Kauai in the community of Princeville. The
complex is low-rise in an "old Hawaii" style. The landscaping
is lovely & lush with many palms, tropical plants & flowers.
Our 2nd floor end unit offers an unobstructed view of the ocean,
mountains & Bali Hai.
The
view is truly spectacular... sunsets over the famous "Bali
Hai", the sights and sounds of crashing surf, and the ever-changing
ocean and sky. This is one of the best views on the island and
we think it ranks as one of the best in the world.
The
master bedroom has a wrought iron queen size bed with a bedcover
made from vintage "old Hawaiian" fabric. As you unpack
you may place your belongings in the 18th century teak cabinet
from Java. This is one of our favorite treasures. For comfort
& convenience, there is also a small TV & telephone.
The
loft bedroom is a unique open-air room with its own bathroom.
It is comfortably furnished with two twin beds. The headboards
are made with old carved teak wood from Bali. Atop the dresser
is a TV/VCR and telephone.
Both
bathrooms include large tiled shower areas & heated towel
racks. The main floor bathroom also has a large capacity washer/dryer
and a scale.
This
comfortable living area has an open beam ceiling and is furnished
in a casual elegant style. The sliding glass doors & windows
lead to the lanai. For your indoor enjoyment, there is a large
TV/VCR and stereo with CD player. There is also a collection of
old Hawaii books for your reading pleasure.
The
Lanai is one of our favorite areas. This area is covered &
can be enjoyed in most any weather. The furniture is made of Bubinga
wood from Equatorial Africa. It is a most comfortable area to
read, watch the ocean and/or just relax and listen to the beautiful
sound of the waves. Not to forget . . . the sunsets are spectacular!!
The
kitchen is fully equipped with all appliances including a dishwasher,
refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, toaster and coffee maker.
There are also many extras, such as unique vintage dishes, hot
water dispenser, blender, steamer, rice cooker, ice cream maker,
a good set of pots & pans and knives that work.
The
dining area is furnished with wicker & wrought iron. Our end
unit location allows for windows on three sides of the dining
area. This gives everyone an ocean view seat.
The
resort has a restaurant (dinner only) and a pool/spa. A private
path leads to a secluded beach below the bluff where there is
a pavilion with a BBQ & picnic tables. The beach area has
both a rocky areas with tide pools and a sandy beach area that
has lots of sun as well as shady areas. Best of all, you'll most
likely be alone. The water invites varied activities depending
on the surf. If it's calm, you can swim or snorkel. There are
lots of tropical fish and a number of large green sea turtles
- a real treat. If the surfs up, this is a favorite spot for the
local surfers.
Actually,
we think the best "activity" is to sit on the Lanai
with a margarita and watch the sunset.
